Questions?
Q: Do I need an OBRA license?
Yes, all racers need a current license. You’ll need a one-day or annual license from OBRA. You can purchase the one-day license for $5 here, or your annual license for $50 here.
Q. How old does my junior need to be to race?
A. Racers must be 8 years old by the end of 2025. Younger riders are free to participate in the Kiddie Cross race.
Q. How do I know what category I am?
A. If you’ve raced less than five cyclocross races, you’ll be in the beginner category. After racing five times, you’re a Category 4. After that, you’ll receive upgrade points based on your finishes. More information can be found on the OBRA website.
Q: Do I need a cyclocross bike?
A: No! Run what you brung, but your bike needs working brakes and should be in good working order.
Q. What does “free beginner women racing” mean?
A. With the support of Berkshire Ginsberg and Portland Design Works, we’re able to cover the cost of any racer in the beginner women’s field. Thank them the next time you get the chance! *SEE Q1 - Race Entries are Free, but Racers still need to be licensed with OBRA.
Q. What does “free juniors racing” mean?
A. With the support of Inhabit Real Estate, we’re able to cover the cost of all Juniors Racers in the Juniors Category. Thank them the next time you get the chance! If a Junior aged racer races a second category, the 2nd race fee of $10 applies. Juniors also need OBRA Memberships, which are FREE for Juniors.
Q: Do I need to be on a team?
A: Nope! If you’re looking for folks to hang out with though, the Trophy Cup tent will be set up as a place for a neutral hang-out that’s open to all.
Q. I want to race two different races, how do I do that?
A. You’ll need to pick up a second race number (with a different timing chip) before you race. You’ll also need to pay us $10. You can do this in person, or online. If you do this online, use the discount code “SECONDRACE” if registering for a single race, “SECONDSERIES” for a second category for the entire season.
Q. When does registration close?
A. Pre-registration closes at 2pm the day of the race. In-person registration is open until 5 minutes before your start time.
Q. Where can I find results?
A. Results can be found on the OBRA results page as well as Race Result. One of these days we’ll figure out this live timing thing and that will be posted as well.
Q. Who do I ask if I have a question about the results?
A. You can get in touch with us here.
Q. Is there a mechanic at the race?
A. There sure is. Our friends at Metropolis Cycles provide mechanical support at each race!
Q. Does Trophy Cup have a pit or neutral support during the race?
A. It does not.
Q: Is there a tracklocross category?
A: There is now! The last race of the night is OPEN and includes a Tracklocross start
Q: Do I use the same number every week?
A: Numbers are attached to both a racer & the category registered for when receiving that number. As long as the race category stays the same, the same number should be used for the entire 2025 season. If an upgrade happens during the season (CONGRATS!), come to registration for a new number to go with the upgrade category.
Q: Do I need to check in at registration at every race?
A: If pre-registered and in possession of a race number, you can skip the registration line and go straight to the start line. If you missed pre-registration and need to register in person, it is $5 more for day of registration. Bring or know your number, as you’ll need to enter it into the system when you register.
